Velma L. (Tegtmeier) Strait, age 82, of Omaha, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, in Omaha. She was born March 17, 1926, in DeWitt, Neb., to Martin and Edna B. (Beethe) Tegtmeier.

Survived by husband, Richard F; daughters, Natalie Strait of Omaha, Heather Strait and husband Scott Lewandowski of Lincoln; grandson, Hudson Lewandowski of Lincoln; brother and sister-in-law, Ed and Midge Tegtmeier of Des Moines; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by parents Martin and Edna Tegtmeier; sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Wilferd Schneider.

Funeral service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 3, at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1821 N. 90th Street in Omaha. Visitation: Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the John A. Gentleman Mortuary, 1010 N. 72nd Street in Omaha. Interment: Forest Lawn Cemetery in Omaha. Memorials preferred to The Lutheran Hour or Alzheimer's Association.
