Born to Forest H. Strait and Mary (Chapin) Strait in Bonesteel, Gregory County, SD. After graduating high school, Dick joined the Air Force and was stationed in Texas. He next attended South Dakota State and graduated with a degree in Economics. He moved to Omaha to pursue employment opportunities. He was employed in Civil Service at Strategic Air Command, Offutt AFB, where he worked as a computer systems analyst. He was at SAC for 21 years, retiring in 1989. Dick was married to Velma L. (Tegtmeier) Strait for 47 years. She preceded him in death in June 2008. He is survived by daughters, Natalie Strait, Omaha, Heather Strait and husband Scott Lewandowski, Lincoln, NE; grandson Hudson Lewandowski; brother-in-law Ed (Midge) Tegtmeier; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
SERVICES Wednesday 10:30am at Bethany Lutheran Church, 4200 N. 204th Street in Elkhorn, with Pastor Harold Schmidt presiding. Interment, Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
