>Notes: Enlisted in Confederate Army 1861, in the 512th District of Georgia
Militia of Worth County, killed in the battle of Ocean Pond near the
Georgia/Florida border. Although I have not seen the letter, a recently
deceased cousin told me that there exist a letter to Hiram's mother with the
circumstances of Hiram's death. That he was shot in the head point-blank by
a black Union soldier after being wounded in battle. I do not have any
other information as to whether the killing was euthanasia or not, since the
letter writer survived the attack.
