Daughter of John Walton and Ann Jones. Wife of Martin William Baker, Jr., married 10 FEB 1795 in Bourbon County, Kentucky. Her cemetery monument states her name as "Hester", but she signed "Esther" on court documents.

~~~~~~~
Notes:
*Esther is named in the will of her grandmother, Hester Jones, 1787.
"To my granddaughter Hester Walton my gold ring which I now wear, also my side saddle".
*The names Esther and Hester, interchangeable during the first two generations, eventually became Hettie.
*Between October 10, 1792 and March 7, 1793, she went to Kentucky with her parents who located near Cynthiana, then in Bourbon but later Harrison County.
~~~~~~~

A few weeks ago Wm. Madden dug up the remains of the father and mother of Mr. Josua [sic] Baker, buried about 35 and 40 years ago on the farm of Fletcher O'Brien, one and one half miles south of Edina, for the purpose of removing them to Linville Cemetery. With the remains of the old lady was found one of the old fashioned tucking combs in a most excellent state of preservation — not a tooth gone or broken; also a part of the burial dress was well preserved. Her bones were nearly all perfect, as were also those of the old gentleman.
