Vonnie T. Smith, 88, Shelbyville, died at 11:15p.m., Monday, Feb. 13, 1995 at Community Hospital East in Indianapolis.
Born Feb. 12, 1907, in Selby County, she was the daughter of Gertrude Ramsey and Oliver L. Copple. She married Alvin J. Smith on March 15, 1924 and he preceded her
in death in 1983.
She was the owner/operator of the Nickle Nook Restaurant chain, with restaurants located in Shelbyville, Connersville, Rushville, Greensburg, Indianapolis and Columbus.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Shelbyville.
She is survived by two brothers, Hardie Copple of Greensburg and Kenneth Copple of Rush County, two sisters, Katherine Alford and Bernice Dwelly, both of Rushville; one step-brother, Harold Barber of Raleigh, Ind.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Murphy Funeral Service of Shelbyville with the Rev. Martin Travelstead officiating.
Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home. -Wednesday Daily News
