Alvin J. Smith, 80, Indianapolis, died today at 4:20 a.m. at Community Hospital, Indianapolis, where he had been a patient for two weeks.
Mr. Smith, who had been in the restaurant business for 50 years, operated the Nickle Nook Restaurants in Shelbyville, Connersville and Rushville, retiring in 1980.
A son of John B. and Mary(Brink)Smith, he was born June 28, 1903, in Shelbyville.
On March 15, 1924, he married Vonnie Copple, who survives.
The only other survivor is a niece, Helen Jean Whisman, Shelbyville Tw sisters and a half-brother preceded in death.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Murphy Mortuary, with the Rev. Richard Morris Officiating.
Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery,
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary.
