The 1910 Census shows Lucy Anastas family living at 717 San Filrage St, in the 4th Ward of Houston, Harris Co., Texas. She is a widow and a retired Dry Goods Merchant. She lists her age as 62 years old, so she was born about 1848 in Turkey(Armenia). This appears to be the right birth date, being that Henry was born in 1845. In the household is daughter Angel Anastas, age 30, born about 1880 in Turkey. She is divorced, and her daughter Sophia Donigan, age 14, is living with them. Daughter Lizzie ,age 24, was born in Texas, is single and living at home. Son Spkin is in the household, age 28. He was born in 1882 in Turkey. Occupation is a Pipe Fitter.
The 1920 Census taken the 2nd& 3rd of January 1920. Lucy is living with her daughter Angel and her new husband Loylter Lewis. Household is at 221 East 12th in Houston, Ward 7, Harris Co., Texas. They are renting. Lucy Anastas lists her age as 71, so 1848 is probably her proper birth date. She lists immigration as 1883, and she has not become Naturalized. She is listed as AL,(alien), not NA. Lucy's daughter Angel lists her age as 42, no occupation. Angel's daughter Sophia Donigan is 24 years old and working as a Clerk in a Newspaper office in Houston. Loylter 'Loy' Lewis is listed as 43 years old and occupation as a Motor Coachman. He later becomes involved in the Real Estate business, possibly with his brother-in-law, Mr A. L. Deguire.
Lucy past away in Sep 1924. There is no record of her husbands burial or death. There is no record found for her son Spkin Anastas after the 1910 Census. Unfortunately there are many transcription errors on records. If Lucy Ansastas was born in 1874 she would have been 4 or 5 years old at her daughter Angels birth. Her daughter Lizzie, born in 1884. Lucy would have been 10 years old. I think 1848 is a reasonable birth date. I don't know if Loy Lewis made the error or the clerk in the county office. But it is in error.
