Mr Merrell was the last member of Company K, Confederate Army. Survived by five daughters and four sons, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Mrs Merrell passed away Nov. 28, 1928. His wife's name was Susan Jane Swetman – alternate spelling Sweetman
