Apostol came to the United States in the early 1900's. He was second husband to Maria Trainoff, father to James Trainoff and step-father to Robert Boris Boskoff and Virginia (Veselina) Boskoff. He was a farmer and even after retirement was known to go help pick the fields, which we believe is why he was in Blythe when he passed away. I heard many stories over the years about how he made his own wine in a basement he dug himself in Eastern Los Angeles and how the Greek and Yugoslav neighbors would always come for a visit and a celebration when Apostol was fermenting his wine and brandies. My mother also said how he was a wonderful gardener and how she enjoyed being in the yard with him as a young girl. I never met him but I think we would have had a wonderful relationship. He and Maria obtained a marriage license in 1925 but did not have a certificate until 1953. We're not sure why and there's no one to confirm though I believe they may have believed they were married with just the license.
