Funeral service for Joseph M. Studer, 82, Algona, will be today (Wednesday) at noon at St. Cecelia’s Church. Rev. Thomas Nash will officiate with burial in Calvary Cemetery. A family prayer service will be held at the Wilson Funeral Home at 11:20 a.m. today.

Mr. Studer died Sunday at Kossuth County Hospital of cardiovascular failure.

Casket bearers will be grandsons Jon Wellik, Greg Wellik, Terry Wellik, Mike Studer, Marty Studer and Danny Studer.

Born Jan. 14, 1904, in St. Benedict, Joseph was the son of John N. and Marty Schneider Studer. He attended school in St. Benedict and married Flavia Eisenbocher on Sept. 1, 1926, in Wesley.

He trained to be a butcher at the Wesley Locker which he later managed until 1936. The couple farmed south of Wesley before moving to a farm near Algona where they lived from 1961 to 1971. They then moved into Algona and Joseph drove a gravel truck for Ron Pek until 1980. He was a member of St. Cecelia’s church.

Survivors include his wife, 6 sons: Joseph, Jr., Thousand Oaks, Calif.; Kenneth, Titonka; Harry, Colorado Springs, Colo.; Roger, Denver, Colo.; Tom, Reeds Spring, Mo.; John , Fairfield, Ohio; and 2 daughters, Joan Studer, Algona, and Shirley Ann, Mrs. Frank Wellik, Britt. One brother, Leo Studer, Spencer, also survives, as do 24 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, one sister, Elnora, and 2 brothers, August and Herman. (Algona Upper Des Moines, Algona, IA, December 17, 1986)
