Samuel Pike Brown was born to parents Thomas H. and Mary A. P. (Frizzell) Brown in 1863. An older brother, Thomas Allison greeted him. His parents had one more son after Samuel's birth, Carlisli (Lyle). Their mother died in 1865. Mr. Thomas H. Brown then married Mary Matilda Turner and the couple raised these three boys and had more children, Walter, Maud, Grace, Clyde, Clara, Harriet (Hattie), and Nellie Gertrude.
Samuel worked as a laborer.
Samuel passed away in Columbus, NE in 1913. His body was brought back to Glenwood, Mills, Iowa for burial in the Glenwood Cemetery. His sister, Maude Pelham and 2 brothers-in-law brought the body back for burial.

Death of Samuel P. Brown
The remains of Samuel Brown arrived Friday morning from Columbus, Nebr. where he died a few days previously. The funeral took place at the home of his mother, Mrs. Thomas Brown in Locus Street, conducted by Rev. W. N. Graves of the Methodist Church.
Samuel Brown was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Brown and he was born in Mills county Mar. 3, 1863 and therefore would have been fify years of age in a few days. Mr. J. A. Goheen of Adair, Nebr. Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Pelham of Dawson, Nebr. a sister and two brothers-in-law of deceased accompanied the remains to Glenwood and were present at the funeral and burial here. Samuel P. Brown left Glenwood when about 15 years old and had lived at different places in Nebr. since, where he followed the life of a farmer. He was never married. He was taken sick a few weeks since with affection of stomach and was taken to the hospital in Columbus but grew worse until death relieved him. The Court house was closed Friday during the funeral hour. As a brother of deceased, Mr. W. S. Brown and Miss Hattie Brown, a sister are clerk and deputy clerk of district court.
The pall bearers for the occasion were four cousins of deceased, Messrs Marion, George, and Frank Buffington and Wm Frizzel, H.E. Evans and Frank Gross.
The bereaved family have the sympathy of the community in their affliction.
