She was born about 1841. She and Rutherford married on Nov 11, 1862 in Greenbrier WV. & had 12 children. Their daughter Anne Patterson, was a medical doctor and a missionary in China with her husband.
Possibly either born in Virginia or Illinios, as I find evidence of both.
"Margaret's parents were James Harvy Steele (son of James Steele and Elizabeth Armstrong) and Catherine Wilson, who m. 1834 in Greenbrier Co., WV (then VA). The family (including at least 2 children) moved from Monroe Co., WV (then VA) to Edgar County, Illinois, abt. 1839, and had at least 3 more children, including Margaret. The mother, Catherine (Wilson) Steele d. btw the 1843 birth of her last known child (John) and the remarriage of her husband in 1848 to Mary Kile. (I haven't found a grave record for either parent, but found that James H. Steele d. Nov 1859 in Edgar Co., IL.)".
