Melvin H. Ahrndt
ALGOMA — Melvin H. Ahrndt, 56, 907 Division St., Algoma, died unexpectedly Monday morning
at the Algoma Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 26, 1910 in Manitowoc, to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ahrndt. He graduated from
high school at Two Rivers, and also had a training course for the A & P Grocery Chain. He had
lived in Algoma since 1935.
He married Blanche Kellner April 25, 1935 at Manitowoc. He was the General Foreman of the Algoma Division of the U.S. Plywood Co., and was employed there since May 1, 1950.
Mr. Ahrndt was also head of the Salvation Army in Kewaunee County; a member of the Masonic Lodge of Algoma; the Boat Club; served as Alderman; the Rescue Squad Civil Defense; the Chair-man of the Recreation Department of Algoma. He also operated several grocery stores in Algoma.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Miles (Joanne) Haucke; Mrs. Donald (Mary) Dionne, both of Algoma; Two grandchildren; one brother, Raymond Ahrndt, St. Angolia, Ind.; onesister, Mrs. Joseph (Edna) Griesbacher, West Allis.
At the Wiesner-Massart Funeral Home after 3 p.m. today, then at the Algoma Methodist Church after 11 a.m. Wednesday. Funeral 2 p.m. Wednesday, the church, the Rev. Jerry Eckert officiating. Burial in the Evergreen Cemetery.
