SOUTH CASCO -- Ivy Mitilda Craig Merrill, of South Casco and Otisfield, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Feb. 25, 2010. She was born Oct. 21, 1916, in Masardis the daughter of Elsmore and Serena (Rockwell) Craig. She was educated in the Masardis Schools. She married Guy L. Merrill on Oct. 17, 1941, and they had nine children. As much as she loved Guy, her children were her life. She always put them first regardless of the circumstances. She was affectionately known as Ivy, Mum, Gram, Gamma and Ma. She loved reading her Bible, watching the Red Sox, crocheting, word search puzzles, books, and horses. Her family is very aware of the strong Christian heritage she has left. She spoke often of her childhood horse named Roxie. 'Gram' loved to be surrounded by children. She never tired of their noise whether they were crying or laughing. In the 70s and 80s she and Guy had a vegetable, flower and egg stand on Route 302 in Casco.
