Idella C. Nickerson,83,devoted wife, mother and grandmother, died Oct. 16,2004,at a Presque Isle healthcare facility. She was born Oct. 31,1920, in Masardis, the daughter of Elsmore and Serena (Rockwell) Craig. She was a charter member of the Bethany Baptist Church where she had been very active in many of the church's functions and organizations. She is survived by her husband of more than 60 years, Darold D. Nickerson of Presque Isle; two sons, Wayne Nickerson and his wife, JoAnn, and Dale Nickerson and his wife, Linda, all of Presque Isle; three daughters, Darlene Stewart, and her husband, Jack, of Mapleton, Cheryl Taubin, and her husband, Jim, and Laura MacFarline, and her husband, Bruce, all of Presque Isle, 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Clifford Craig of Masardis, and Elsmore Craig of Auburn; two sisters, Ivy Merrill of Casco, and Pearl Sampson of Norway, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by three sisters, Mary Taylor, Ruby Craig, and Hatty Turner. Funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at the Bethany Baptist Church in Presque Isle, with Pastors Jack Stewart and Doug Taubin officiating. Relatives and friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of the service, at the church. Those who wish may make gifts in her memory to the Baptist Park Scholarship Fund, care of Ellie Thomas, 250 Sealander Road, Woodland,ME 04736. Arrangements are in the care of the Duncan-Gravs Funeral Home in Presque Isle.
