The Rev. Dewey (Admiral) Toler, 78, of Wharncliffe, and a minister for 53 years, died Wednesday morning in the Williamson Appalachian Regional Hospital following a lingering illness.
Born March 18, 1898, in Wharncliffe, he was the son of the Rev. Andy and Nettie (Brookshire) Toler, both deceased.
He was married to Kizzie Morgan Toler who survives.
The Reverend Mr. Toler was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God at Wharncliffe and a pioneer founder of the Pentecostal Church in the Wharncliffe area.
Surviving are two sons, Judge Toler of Wharncliffe; Joe Toler of Wharncliffe; one sister, Mrs. Lula Riddle of Williamson; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
