Daughter of Andy and Martha (Hatfield) Toler

Married to Hiram Wesley Preece in 1898 (Mingo Co, WV)

Had a child with Miniard Holbrook Thompson. The love of her life. No records of a marriage have been found between them. Preece would not grant her a divorce. After Miniard passed away, she went back to Preece until her untimely death.

She is buried beside her mother.

My ggrandmother, Wookie, was never told where her mother's body was taken. Wes Preece had shipped her by train to, what we find later, her family's cemetery. She never got to visit the grave & it always unsettled her. Once we researched & heard of the cemetery, some family members took the trip and found our Mary B. :) It was 80 years before we found her. A little strange that her daughter claimed she never knew where Mary Bell was buried, it was afterall noted in her obituary and on her death certificate.

A couple years before Mary B died, Wookie drove her to the Deaconess Hospital in Ironton, Ohio to have a breast removed due to cancer. They made another trip over a year later to see if the doctor would remove the other, but were told the cancer had already spread & there was nothing more that could be done. Mary B passed within 5 months before her 1st grandchild was born.
