WARREN - Suzanna Funtjar Listiak, 101, of Warren, passed away 6:25 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2011, at Community Skilled Healthcare Center.
She was born Nov. 28, 1909, in Bessemer, Mich., the daughter of Andrew and Ida Macek Funtjar.
A 1926 graduate of Warren G. Harding High School, she attended Wilcox Commercial School in Cleveland and The American Institute of Banking in Youngstown.
Prior to retirement in 1962 from Trumbull Memorial Hospital, where she served as secretary to the director of nursing for a number of years, her work experience included the legal and medical professions, industry banking and the Warren Board of Education serving two school superintendents.
Suzanna was an active member of the North-Mar Church of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, where she served in various capacities such as librarian, Sunday school teacher and joining her husband in recording and duplicating tapes of the services, memorials, and weddings. She was a member of the Margaret Wearly Women's Missionary Prayer Fellowship.
She had been a Cub Scout den mother, managed a rocket club, and loved to compose poems for members of the family on special days.
Survivors include a son, John Samuel Listiak of Prescott, Ariz., and a brother, Victor of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Listiak Jr., whom she married Oct.18, 1930; six sisters, Ella Robison, Mary Stegmaier, Marguerite Metro, Julia Funtjar, Judith Funtjar and Edith Balestrino; and two brothers, James and Andy Funtjar.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Roberts-Clark Chapel, where friends will be received for one hour prior to the service. Pastor Myron Daum will officiate.
Interment will be in Champion Township Cemetery.
Material contributions may be made to the North-Mar Church to be used for missions.
