Second Death In Family In Less Than Three Weeks

Miss S. Irene Brumbaugh, native of Martinsburg and well known school teacher, died at the International hospital. Rome, Italy, at 6.30 o'clock Saturday evening after
becoming ill on July 27 on an Italian liner en route to Europe for a summer tour.

Note specialists sought to save her life at the Rome hospital to which she was admitted after the liner docked at the Italian port.

Miss Brumbaugh's residence was at Bryn Mawr, Pa.

Sara Irene Brumbaugh was born at Martinsburg Feb. 13, 1904, the daughter of Rev. Moses R. and Sara Florence (Stuard) Brumbaugh. She was graduated from Martinsburg High School and Juniata College. She received her master's degree from Pennsylvania State university and was near completion of work for a doctorate degree in English.

Miss Brumbaugh's first teaching position was at the Bellwood-Antis High school and in turn taught at the Morrisons Cove High school, Martinsburg, and Edinsboro, Pa., High school. She was an instructor of English at the Paoli Area High school at Berwyn at the time of her death. She had taught during summer sessions at Drexel institute and Ellis college, both in Philadelphia.

Her death was second in her immediate family in less the a three-week period. Her oldest brother, Charles Albert Brumbaugh of Harrisburg, died on July 29.

Surviving Miss Brumbaugh are one brother, D. Emmert Brumbaugh of Claysburg, and three sisters, Mrs. Marie Keyser of Johnstown, Mrs. Agnes Moot of Lebanon, and Mrs. Carrie Banks of Harrisburg. Another Brother, H. Ross Brumbaugh of Martinsburg, died some years ago.

She was a member of the Byrn Mawr Presbyterian church, The Ardmore chapter, Order of Easter Star, and the American Association of University Women.

The body will be brought by plane to Martinsburg.
