Obituary:
"Beautiful calm, when the course is run. Beautiful twilight at set of sun. Beautiful death with life well done."
Again the angel of Death has entered our community and taken from our midst a noble Christian mother and friend. Irene Lola Stanton, daughter of Archibald and Mary Elizabeth Ewart was born November 11, 1877 near Elliott, Iowa and departed this life at her home in Bosworth, Missouri in the early morning hours on November 19,1941.
On February 6, 1895, she was united in marriage to Benjamin Franklin Stanton and to this union three sons and two daughters were born. They established their home in Iowa, where they resided until moving to Bosworth in 1921.
Mrs. Stanton has always taken an active interest in the social and religious life of our community. She has held membership in the Royal Neighbor Lodge for a number of years, and was a charter member of the Birthday Club, which was organized in her home in 1930, and the members of this club had the privilege of meeting with her again on her birthday a little over a week ago.
She was a very loyal member of the Methodist Church, and gave much of her time and talents for her Master. For over twenty years she served as a teacher in the Sunday School, and has helped to mold and influence the lives of the many young people whom she came in contact, and no doubt the seed she has sown will still yield a bountiful harvest in the coming years.
Although busy with the cares of this life she always found time to comfort those who were heavy laden and to give assistance to those who were in need of a true friend. Her smile and her cheerful presence will be missed by her loved ones and friends, yet it is consoling to know that she is at rest in that home in the mansion God has prepared for those who love and serve him.
She is survived by two sons and two daughters; Ira H. of Little Rock, Arkansas, Arch D. of Peoria, Illinois, Mrs. Edyth Wilhelm of Bosworth, Missouri and Mrs. Edna Phillips of Chicago, Illinois, seven grandchildren, also two sisters, Mrs. Ernest Dotson, of Red Oak, Iowa, Mrs. Ed Stanton of Nodaway, Iowa, and one brother, John Ewart of Coby, Nebraska and other relatives. She was preceeded in death by her eldest son Jonathan, also her mother, father, five sisters, two brothers, and one grandchild.
"A picture I see of a beautiful face, Reflecting an image of heavenly grace; A gift of the highest and sacredest worth, That God ever gave to His people on earth. A picture which shows many traces of care, And yet an expression of sweetest love there. The works of the rarest and loveliest art, A picture of mother, that's framed in my heart. No time can efface this picture I see, Each day it grows dearer and dearer to me; And though she has crossed to her Haven of Rest, Sweet mem'ries of mother lie wrapped in my breast. The print of her footsteps again I can see, Her voice I hear saying, 'My dear, follow me.' No artist can paint me a picture so fair, It takes a true mother, her love, faith and prayer."
