Yvonne Adkisson, 76, of London, died Monday, July 16, 2012, at the Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home.

She was born September 28, 1935, in the Pleasant View Community near Russellville in Pope County, to Alfred Monroe and Pauline Smith Whorton.

Yvonne was kind and warm hearted, and never met a stranger. Known as "MeMa" to those of her granddaughter's generation, there was always a place at her table for anyone who was lucky enough to show up at dinner time. She loved deeply, yet was loved even more. She was a member of the Dover Church of Christ and was a lifetime Christian woman, so we will see her again. Until then, she will be greatly missed!

She was preceded in death by her parents; her maternal grandparents, Scott and Eva Smith; and her paternal grandparents, John and Josie Whorton.

Survivors include her husband of 53 years, Carl Adkisson; her daughter, Tanya Adkisson Smith of Dover; two granddaughters, Ashley Anderson-Cains and her husband, Nick, of Dover, and Danielle Smith-Hays and her husband, Kyle, of Lowell; and two great-grandsons, Brett Cains and Ian Cains.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 19, 2012, at the Shinn Chapel, officiated by Bro. Micah Williams. Burial will be in East Point Cemetery, by Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.

Pallbearers will be Brett Cains, Kenny Smith, James Anderson, Ronnie Rast, Kenneth King, Tony Fitzhugh, Lynn White and Nick Cains.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday evening, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home, 220 John Babish Lane, Russellville, Arkansas 72801.

The family would like to express thanks to Dr. Kevin Beavers, Dr. Bobbie Fine, the staff of the River Valley Kidney Center and the staff of the Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home for all of their loving care.

The family would also like to express a special thank you to Kenny Smith for his loving care of her to and from dialysis, and at home over the past year.
