Shirley E. Snyder, 76, Duncansville, died Monday afternoon at Altoona Regional.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of Charles D. and Ada E. "Mary" (Weyant) Beard. She married Donald K. Snyder on Oct. 26, 1956, in Cumberland, Md., and he preceded her in death in 1987.
Surviving are three sons: Donald S. "Donnie" and wife, Patty, of Eldorado, Ill., Jeffrey A. and wife, Lisa, of Altoona and John H. and wife, Billi Jo, of Duncansville; a daughter, Eleanor K. Potter of Duncansville; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and two great-granddaughters on the way; and two sisters: Karen Machart and husband, Mike, of Roaring Spring and Linda Kinsey and husband, Tom, of Osterburg.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Jane Cruse; and a brother, Robert Beard.
Shirley was a 1954 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School. She was a waitress at the Chuck Wagon Restaurant and bartended at the Duncansville VFW. She attended Foot of Ten Bible Church. She was a member of the Duncansville VFW Ladies Auxiliary and loved bingo and crocheting.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 20, 2012, at Plank, Stitt & Stevens Funeral Home, 421 Montgomery St., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2012, by Pastor Lynn Johnston.
