Hendrikson Rites Held Saturday at Deer Creek Valley

Funeral services were held Saturday at 1:30pm at the home and at 2pm at the Deer Creek Valley Lutheran church for Mrs. Peder I. Hendrikson, 70, who died Wednesday last week at St. Olaf hospital, Austin, Minn., of a heart ailment.

The Rev. Christina Notsund officiated at the rites, and the Klein funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Burial was in the London Deer Creek Cemetery. Pall bearers were Iriving, Pearl O., and Joy Hendrikson, Curtis Leidal, and Herbert and Martin Rohne.

A large crowd attended services, which included songs by the Deer Creek Valley choir, by Mrs. A.N. Fenney, and H.G. Dahl, L.F. Dahl and Glen E. Dahl of Lyle Minn. The West circle served coffee at the parish house after the service.

Mrs. Hendrikson was the former Clara Bergeson, daughter of John and Anna Bergeson. She was born June 13, 1879, in London Township, Freeborn County, Minn., and was baptized in the Shell Rock congregation on Feb. 7, 1880, by the Rev. O.N. Nelson. She grew up at the parental home, attended the local school, and was confirmed at Six Mile Grove church at Lyle by the Rev. J. Muller Eggen.

On Dec. 27, 1899, she was married to Peder I. Hendrikson by the Rev. O.G.U. Siljan, and they lived on their present farm almost 48 years where they raised a family of one girl and three boys.

The children are Philip Hendrikson of the Deer Creek vicinity Chester and George Hendrikson of Austin and Mrs. Arnold Weieneth of near Northwood. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last December 27 at the Deer Creek Valley parish house.

Mrs. Hendrikson's health had failed in recent years, and she was critically ill with a heart ailment a year ago.

She is survived by her husband and children, two sisters, Mrs. Albert Leidal of Deer Creek and Mrs. Nels Hanson of Minneapolis, and nine grandchildren. Her parents; three brothers, Svend, Almer and John; and five sisters, Mary, Ella, and Adeline who died in infancy, and Aase and Adeline preceded her in death.

Those from a distance who attended the service were from Maynard, Montevideo, Austin, Albert Lea, Milroy, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Lyle, and Spring Grove, Minn., and Mason City and Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
