"Dunlap--Baker. East Liberty Street, Wednesday evening, October 15th, was somewhat enlivened on the occasion of the marriage of Mr. Benjamin Walter Dunlap, the popular operator of the Charlestown Western Union Telegraph office, and Miss Alice L. Baker, at the residence of the bride's parents, and in the presence of a company of near relatives and intimate friends, were united in the bonds of holy wedlock by Rev. Dr. Gardner, using the impressive ceremony of the Methodist Episcopal Church. The bridal pair having received the congratulations of those present, they and the company partook of a sumpteous feast and viewed with pleasure the display of wedding gifts of beauty and useful service, and after which they and most of the company proceeded to the B. & O. Station where the principles in the happy affairs received the hearty greetings of hosts of friends, and amid showers of wishes for their happiness took the 7:30 train on their wedding tour. --Advocate."

Dunlap, at Charlestown, West Virginia, October 15, 1890; children, Walter R., age 28, Grace E., age 26; member Red Cross; did sewing and knitting for Red Cross during war."

"Two Port Washington Couples Observe Golden Weddings. Port Washington. -- Two Port Washington couples, Mr. and Mrs. William Schmidler and Mrs. and Mrs. Walter Dunlap, this week celebrated their golden wedding jubilee.....Mr. and Mrs. Dunlap were married at Charlestown, West Virginia, on October 15, 1890, by the Rev. Dr. Gardner of the Methodist Church. Mrs. Dunlap, 74, nee Alice Baker, was born at Johnsonville, Maryland, October 3, 1866. Mr. Dunlap was born June 27 of the same year in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. They came West in 1893, settling at Negaunee, Michigan. In 1913, they moved to Port Washington. For over 43 years, Mr. Dunlap was employed as a telegrapher for the North Western Railway, retiring October 3, 1936. They have one son, Walter R., of Clio, Michigan, and one daughter, Grace, wife of Dr. I. E. Bowing of Kenosha. There are two grandchildren, Nancy and Barbara. The Dunlaps celebrated their jubilee with a family dinner Sunday, followed by open house from 3 to 6 p.m. for neighbors and friends."

"MRS. ALICE L. DUNLAP. Funeral services were held this morning at the Poole Funeral Home, Port Washington, for Mrs. Alice L. Dunlap, 97, a former resident of Port Washington, who died Monday at East Tawas, Michigan. The Rev. Milton Staube of the Congregational United Church of Christ, officiated and burial was in Port Washington Union Cemetery. Mrs. Dunlap, who would have been 98 years old Saturday, was born in Maryland and was married in West Virginia in 1890 to Walter Dunlap. They later lived in Port Washington where Mr. Dunlap was employed a telegraph operator for the Chicago and North Western Railway. He died in 1951. Surviving are a son, Walter, Flint, Michigan; a daughter, Mrs. Ervin Bowing, Grand Forks, North Dakota; two grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Mrs. Dunlap was a former member of the Port Woman's Club, the First Congregational Church and the Womern's Fellowship at the church."
