Obituary for Thomas Milton Baker from the Farmers Advocate of Saturday, March 25, 1922:

"The sudden death of Mr. Thomas M. Baker, about midnight Monday night at his home in Charles Town was a grievous shock to a wide circle of friends among whom he was popular. While his health had been frail for some time, none of his friends were prepared for the sudden bereavement that has come to them. Shortly after retiring Monday night, he was stricken with heart failure, resulting in his death before a physician could reach him. Mr. Baker was a musician of unusual ability. As an instructor in band music, he was well-known all over the county. On the night of his death, he attended a meeting of the Powhatan Band in Ranson, where he had been giving weekly instructions. As a leader in musical entertainments, he was constantly in demand for charity work, and gave freely of his time and labor for the benefit of others. Mr. Baker was a native of Charles Town, and was 51 years of age. He leaves a widow and one brother, Mr. Harry C. Baker, of Charles Town. The funeral was held in Zion Episcopal Church Thursday afternoon at 4 o'clock. Burial was in Edge Hill Cemetery."

From the Farmers Advocate of April 1, 1922:

"Mr. and Mrs. William V. Ruhl and son, Ross, and Mrs. Wade Elgin, all of Washington, D.C., and George Ruhl, of Salem, Virginia, came to Charles Town to attend the funeral of the late Thomas M. Baker. Mrs. William Ruhl and son will remain here until after Easter, visiting Mrs. Baker."
