Sidney Smith was the son of John Philip Smith and his first wife Ann "Annie" Eliza Johnson Smith. His mother Annie was one of the granddaughters of Duncan Johnson and Nancy Wimberley, Nancy was one of the sisters of Pleasant Wimberley, Sr., an owner of the mill around which Wimberley, Texas, grew.
Sidney himself was a jailer at the historic Red Top Jail in Llano, Llano County, Texas. His wife was a cook at the same jail.
Sidney and his wife Lillie had two sons when the 1910 Census was taken--Carl L., age 8, and Oscar K, age 3. By the 1920 Census, Sidney and Lillie had three children in their household Oscar Kenneth "Pete," age 13, Dorthea, age 7, and Lois, age 4.
So their four children were as follows:
1. Carl Loren, born 1901
2. Oscar Kenneth, born 1906, died 1990, buried Smith Family Cemetery
3. Dorthea, born 1913
4. Lois, born 1915, married Charles Baldwin, Jr., one child by Baldwin, Charles Baldwin III
