MRS. HERBERT BARTELT
The Rev. Philip Schowalter officiated at services at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Friedens United Church of Christ, Port Washington for Mrs. Herbert C. Bartelt.
Mrs. Bartelt, 46, who lived at 907 W. Grand Ave. with her husband and family died Saturday night at St. Alphonsus Hospital of a heart ailment. She had been ill for several months.
Born in Cedar Grove, Dec. 16, 1922, she was the daughter of Alger and Blanche (Obbink) Bruggink. Her marriage to Herbert Bartelt was celebrated Aug. 20, 1943 at Cedar Grove. They moved to Port Washington in 1946.
Mrs. Bartelt was a a member of the Junior Women's Guild and the Adult Fellowship of Frieden's Church, and had been a Sunday school teacher.
Her husband survives her, as do two sons, Robert and Ronald, at home; and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alger Bruggink of Cedar Grove. She is also survived by four brothers, Dale Keith, Neil and Lowell, as well as nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and other relatives and friends. A brother Wendell preceded him in death.
Burial was in Union Cemetery, Port Washington. Serving as pallbearers were six nephews: Tim Bruggink, Ned, Richard, David and Alfred Bartelt, and Bill Leppla.
