Ephraim Polk III son of Ephraim Polk II and Mary Cloverdale. He was born in Northwest Fork Hundred, Sussex Co. Delaware. He married 8 Mar. 1792 Sussex Co., Delaware to Rhoda Ann Morris d/o Daniel Morris Jr. and Ann Polk. Not proven but possibly 1st cousins?

He fought as a private in the American Revolution War from State of Pennsylvania. Also, fought in War of 1812 in Defense of New Orleans from State of Kentucky. He died shortly after returning home to Scott Co., KY.

When a boy Ephraim Polk moved to Philadelphia, PA and enlisted in Rev. War State of Pennsylvania in 1777.
In 1838 Rhoda Polk applied for Rev. War Pension R8302
for husband Ephraim Polk who enlisted in Sep 1777 for 5 years in Philadelphia, PA. under Capt. Joseph Rhoades Company, Col Will's Regiment, Fourth Class, Philadelphia Militia.
Fought at the Battle of Germantown and passed into the Continental line in the 3rd Pennsylvania Regiment of Foot served throughout the War. Pension was turned down by Washington, D.C. because she failed to furnish proof of husbands service in accordance with the requirements of the Pension law. Yet, later in file said service record found in letter in 1840 after her death.
When a granddaughter Miss Elizabeth Tyner White of La Fayette, IN applied for DAR she wrote that the original muster roll of Harrisburg, PA and duplicate records at Washington D.C have both been destroyed by fire. Another letter in 1840 found of proof of his enlistment.
