TURNER DIES AFTER PROLONGED ILLNESS
Was 74 Years Old--Had Spent Entire Life Here
David A. Turner, 74 years old, died at his home, 223 Michigan avenue, yesterday morning. Turner was a member of the King Hill Lodge, A. F. A. M., and one of the oldest members of Custer Post No. 7, G. A. R. He had been failing for the past ten years, from hardening of the arteries and had been confined to his bed for the past nine months.
Turner was born five miles south of the city, April 20, 1845, and with the exception of three and a half years in the army, spent his entire life here. When 16 years old he enlisted in Company C, 25th Missouri infantry, and was engaged in many of the most important battles of the Civil war. Besides fighting in the battles of Pittsburg Landing, Shiloah, Kennesaw Mountain, Dalton, Jonesboro, and the capture of Atlanta, he was with Sherman on his famous march to the sea. He also was present at the grand review at Washington, D. C., during the Atlanta campaign. He was on the staff of Gen. O. A. Howard, commander of the army of the Cumberland.
Turner is survived by his wife and four children, Mrs. Goldie Korf, Mrs. Mary Carter, William A. Turner, and David A. Turner. He had been married twice. His first wife died several years ago. He owned a large fruit farm south of the city.
The funeral will be in charge of the Masons and will be held tomorrow afternoon at 1 oclock from the home. Silas Utz, Will Elder, Cal Hyde, John Roach, W. J. Klepper, and R. Lee Utz will be pallbearers. Burial will be in Register cemetery.

Civil War Veteran Passes Away After Nine Months' Illness
David A. Turner, one of the oldest members of Custer Post No. 7, G. A. R., died at his home, 233 Michigan avenue at 10 o'clock a.m. today. Death resulted from arterial cirrhosis of the liver, from which the veteran had been a sufferer nine months.
Mr. Turner was born on a farm five miles south of St. Joseph, April 30, 1845, and with the exception of three and a half years spent in military service in the Civil War, had spent his entire life in this county. He enlisted in the army Feb., 11, 1862, at the age of sixteen years, in Company C, 25th Missouri Infantry, and engaged in many of the important battles of the war. He was a member of King Hill Lodge No. 376, A.F. & A. M. Mr. Turner was married twice, his first wife having died several years ago. The second wife, with four children, survive. The children are: Mrs. Goldie Korf, David A. Turner Jr., William A. Turner, and Mrs. Mary Carter.
The funeral service will be conducted Saturday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home in charge of the Masons. Burial will be in Register Cemetery. The pallbearers will be: R. Lee Utz, Silas Utz, Will Elder, W.J. Klepper, Cal Hyde, and John Roach.

Banker-Farmer Leaves Property to His Widow, Children and a Grandchild.
Under the provisions of the will of David A. Turner Sr., the Hyde Park banker who died Jan. 30, and who had lived in St. Joseph and vicinity sixty years, the estate is left to his widow, children and a grandchild. The estate is valued at $30, 000, mostly real estate. The personal property is estimated at $1, 000. The home at 223 Michigan avenue goes to the widow, who also receives a fifty-five-acre farm near the city. Other farm land is divided among David Hautzenrader, a grandson, and the following named children: Mrs. Goldie A. Korf, Mrs. Mary A. Carter and David A. Turner Jr. The executors named in the will are David A. Turner Jr. and Harry Korf, the last named the dead man's son-in-law.
