William A. (Pete) Turner, 83, who retired in 1950 from the St. Joseph Stock Yards Co., died Monday night at a hospital in Seattle, Wash. Word of his death was received by his granddaughter, Mrs. David Herbert, 3712 Penn street, who was raised in his home.
A native of St. Joseph, Mr. Turner, who formerly resided at 223 Michigan avenue, left here 14 years ago to make his home in Seattle with his daughter, Mrs. Glen Felt. His wife, Mrs. Nellie Turner, died in August, 1954.
In addition to his daughter, survivors include two sons, William A. Turner Jr., St. Joseph, and Ashley Turner, Eugene, Ore; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The body is expected to arrive in St. Joseph some time Saturday and will be taken to the Rupp Mortuary pending service arrangements.
