Rhea was the 2nd eldest daughter of James Higgins and Elizabeth Lavin Higgins of Minden City, Michigan.

After attending school in Minden City, Rhea was a teacher for the Minden City School and also taught school in Franklin, Louisiana briefly. After completing further studies, Rhea graduated from the Ferris Institute in Big Rapids, Michigan. Rhea loved to waltz.

Rhea married widower Myron J. Ennest on 19 Jul 1917 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Palms, Sanilac County, Michigan. After living briefly in Detroit, Rhea and Myron returned to Minden City.

Rhea and Myron had 5 children, with only their first child surviving into adulthood: William James "Bill" Ennest, Myron John "Jack" Ennest, Jr., Baby Boy Ennest, Baby Girl Ennest and Baby Boy Ennest. Almost 3 year old little Jack Ennest and his newborn sister died on the same day.

Rhea was very active in the civic and community affairs in Minden City as her husband Myron was a council member and then President of the Minden City Town Council and he was also an employee and Board member of the State Savings Bank of Minden City. Rhea was an avid bridge player and a member of the Women's Catholic League. She was President of the Women's American Legion and was named as a Trustee of the Minden City Board of Education. Rhea was a member of the Michigan Democratic State Committee.

Rhea's funeral was held in the church where she was baptized, married and had been devout parishioner, St. Patrick's in Palms, Michigan. Rhea was adored by her family and friends and those in her community.
