ROBERT W. MURPHY, 87, of Fort Wayne, died Friday, July 13, 2012, 1:15 a.m., at Parkview Hospital, Randalia Drive. Born April 23, 1925, in Culver, Ind., he was the son of the late William Murphy and Lorena (Riggens). He served in the Navy in World War II and was an office worker general manager for Harmon Glass Co., retiring after He had 35 years of service in the glass business before retiring in 1985. He was a member of Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, V.F.W. Post 857 and Knights of Columbus. He played semi pro football for the St. Joseph Athletic Club. He loved gardening, was an avid Cubs fan, who loved fishing and being with his grandsons. Surviving are his wife, Geraldine M. (Krempel) Murphy of Fort Wayne; son, Patrick (Jeanne) Murphy of Fort Wayne; three grandsons, Mike, Nic and Kyle Murphy, all of Fort Wayne; one sister, Kara (Roger) Hendrickson of Kenton, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Ben Murphy of Nappanee, Ind. Funeral service is 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 N. Wells St., with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, July 16, 2012 at the funeral home. Father Joseph Gaughan officiating. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery.
