VALLEY -- Miss Verna L. Tatum, 95, of Valley died Tuesday, April 1, 2003 at LaFayette Nursing Home in LaFayette.
Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, April 4 at 2 p.m. (EST) at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home Chapel in Valley with Milford Chewning officiating. Burial will follow in Milltown Cemetery.
Miss Tatum is survived by her niece, Joyce McClendon Robertson of Marietta, Ga.; her nephew, Roy McClendon of Lanett; four great-nephews and four great-nieces; and several great-great-nieces and nephews.
Born June 16, 1907 in Milltown, Ala., Miss Tatum taught school for 40 years at Shawmut School. She had attended Jacksonville State Teachers College and was a graduate of Auburn University. She was a member of Milltown Methodist Church, and was a former member of the Little Boston Club. She was retired from the Alabama Teacher's Association. Miss Tatum was the daughter of the late Cora Leverett Tatum and Lorenzo Asbury Tatum.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Milltown Methodist Church in her memory.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 4 from 1 until 2 p.m. (EST) at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
