VALLEY --- Mrs. Ruth McClendon, 95, of Valley died Thursday, Feb. 11, 1999, at Beverly Heath Care in Lanett.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 13, 2 p.m. at Shawmut United Methodist Church in Valley with the Rev. Robert Lancaster and Dr. Byron Waites officiating. Burial will follow in the LaFayette City Cemetery.
Mrs. McClendon is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Robbie Robertson of Marietta, GA; her son, and daughter-in-law, Roy and Carol McClendon Jr. of Valley; her sister, Verna Tatum of Milltown and Valley; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Born April 25, 1903, in Milltown, Mrs. McClendon was a lifelong member of Shawmut United Methodist Church, where she had been very active and served as Sunday School Superintendent, communion steward and was a member of the Julia B. Murphy Ladies Circle. Mrs. McClendon was the daughter of the late Cora Lee Leverett Tatum and Lorenza Asbury Tatum. She was a member of the Little Boston Club.
The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 until 8 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Shawmut United Methodist Church in memory of Mrs. McClendon.
