Mathilde Delmas Bodden, born on May 2, 1923 in Pascagoula, MS died in Pascagoula, MS on July 12, 2012. She was member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church and a member of the old line Delmas family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee A. and Augusta (Miller) Delmas; her grandparents, I.P. Delmas and Bertha (Poitevin) Delmas; sister and brother-in-law, Sara Lee Delmas Riley and Chester Riley; niece, Frances Marie Riley; father-in-law, Capt. W.L. Bodden; mother-in-law, Isabel Norma Bodden; brothers-in-law and sisters-in law, Willie Thomas and Sue Canfield Bodden, Alf Griffin and Lucille Poitevin Bodden, and Hugh Garland Bodden.

Mathilde married Roberts L. Bodden on October 6, 1946. They enjoyed a very, very happy marriage, although they were not blessed with children. She claimed she and her husband, Roberts, were blessed with many loving and caring nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews-Gary and Norma Sue (Bodden) Byrd, Tommy and Carolyn (Vann) Bodden, Hugh and Udean (Gordon) Bodden, Bill and Kathy (Bodden) Allen, Alf, Jr. and Betty (Howard) Bodden, Gene and Lynn (McGowan) Bodden, Midge Bodden, Jim and Jean (Bodden) Bolze, Allen and Dawn (Bodden) Schenier.
Mathilde attended nursing training at Providence Hospital in Mobile, AL. She was noted as the best Doctor's Office Nurse in Pascagoula. In her younger years, she was very active socially, as well as politically, having served all Chairs and as President of the Pascagoula Junior Women's Club, two terms in the Pascagoula Zoning Commission, and various positions with Gray Ladies at OLV School. She was a Charter Member of the Jackson County Genealogical Society, Entre Nous Carnival Association, and served as Queen of the first Knights of Columbus 1605, Queen of BPOE Elks Lodge 1120, and Duchess of various county carnival balls.
Mathilde improved Roberts' dancing and he trained her in fishing and hunting, camping and traveling. Her friend, Betty Jo Krebs, brought her a rock from Colorado, which started her collection of rocks from every state in the union (not including Alaska). She also collected rocks from Mexico, Canada and Bodden Town Grand Cayman, British West Indies.
Over the years, she was blessed with close friendships with the following families, The Ford's, The Pickett's, The Moore's, the Frederic's, the Krebs' The Avara's, and The Scholtes'.

Visitation will be on Monday, July 16, 2012 from 10:00-11:00AM at Our Lady of Victories Catholic Church. The funeral mass will follow at 11:00AM. Interment will be at Machpelah Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Lauren Avery, Matthew Avery, Dr. Pete Avery, Lance Bodden, Al Bodden, and Vann Bodden.
