Edward Carter is the son of John Carter of Sudley, Pr. Wm. VA. and Janet Hamilton d/o Gilbert Hamilton and Ann Beale.

Carter, Edward is buried in the Meadow Grove cemetery also called Carter-Cassell cemetery located in Marshall in Fauquier County. He was born in 1788 and died on 16 June 1845.
He was married to Fanny Toy Scott who died on 21 April 1864.
He served as a Private in Capt. Grigsby's Troop of Cavalry in Fauquier County.
His service records may be found at the National Archives in roll box 35, record 1371. Information on his burial may be found in burial source 4 on page 15.
