Genevieve Halford-Gleason, 96, of Manhattan, New York, passed away peacefully at Mary Manning Walsh Home on Monday, July 9, 2012.

One-time wife of entertainer, Jackie Gleason, Genevieve was a devoted mother and grandmother, a devout Catholic, and a generous advocate of personal charity. Dedicated to programs of the aged and infirmed, she was a daily communicant and longtime volunteer at St. Patrick's Cathedral in Midtown Manhattan. Genevieve was a contributor and founding member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a supporter of the American Red Cross, a member of the Association of Ladies of Charity, a generous devotee of Marymount School of New York, from which both her daughters graduated, and a supporter of the Redemptorist Brothers and Fathers in their world wide mission work. She was a founding member of the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund and Museum inspired by the events of September 11, 2001.

Genevieve was received into the Franciscan order of Lay Province of St. Mary in 1982 and was granted the rank of Lady in the Knightly Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem in 1991 by the authority of the Holy Father, Pope John Paul II. She is survived by her two daughters, Geraldine Chutuk and Linda King; son-in-law, Robert King; grandchildren, Jennifer Miller, Jason Patric, Jordan Miller and Mark Chutuk; and great-grandchildren Caitlin Chutuk, Alison Chutuk and Jack Brodie Miller.

Family to receive friends at Frank E. Campbell - The Funeral Chapel, 1076 Madison Ave. (81st), Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 6-9pm. Mass of Christian Burial, St. Patrick's Cathedral - Lady Chapel, Friday, July 13, 2012 at 10am. Interment at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
