Unidentified newspaper clipping, Douglass Museum, Butler Co, Kansas, [date may be July 1st 1910]; DEATH WAS A VERY SAD ONE / Art Farnsworth Lost Life While Bathing in Mississippi / LEAVES HIS WIFE AND FAMILY . . .
. . . The bereaved home is one of utter sadness. The wife was formerly Miss Abbott, daughter of Napoleon Abbott, of Omaha, Mo. She has a sister, Mrs E P Conus, living here. Five children have come to the home, ranging in years from 14 months to 13 years, and now she is left with the responsibility of their care. She had worked faithfully with her husband to establish a home and they had bought two lots the past spring on which they expected to build a comfortable cottage. They had already put up the barn. By hard work and economy, they had accumulated a neat little sum, and by his faithfulness as a railroad man he had reached a position of responsibility as an engineer which paid something like $150 per month. When the news of his death came it was with the greatest difficulty that any one was found with heart strong enough to bear the sad tidings to the widow and mother of his family. Since the message with its awful import became known to her she has been almost uncontrollable in her grief. . . .
