Benjamin Franklin Abbott
Benjamin Franklin Abbott, son of N. B. and Mariah Abbott, was born in Putnam county, Mo., Feb. 8, 1860, and died at his home near Livonia, Mo., March 19, 1931, being at the time of his death, 71 years, 1 month and 10 days of age.
He was married to Sophronia McClure on Feb. 5, 1888, and to this union five children were born, all of whom survive: Mrs. Dollie Kelley of Exline, Iowa; Mrs. Edith D. Mullins of near Unionville; Cloyd, Lloyd and Boyd of the home.
He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, five children, eight grandchildren, two brothers, George M. of Hartford, and Phillip S. of near Hartford; four half sisters and four half brothers and a host of friends and neighbors.
He was not a member of any church but his life was an exemplary one, as he was a man of unquestionable worth and character.
Although the last two years of his life were years of much suffering, no complaint was heard and his suffering was borne with great patience.
Funeral services were conducted at the home at 2 p.m. Saturday by Rev. Coggins of the Christian church at Unionville. Burial was made in the McCune Cemetery.
