Obituary: Centerville Daily Iowegian & Citizen, Feb 28, 1940; A L Farnsworth Taken At Exline; Had Been Ill For Several Years but Condition Not Serious Until Past Few Days

-Exline (special)-- A L Farnsworth, 72, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs Olan Hamm, at 8:30 Wednesday night after a critical illness of about a week's duration. Mr Farnsworth had been ill for several years, but his condition did not become alarming until recently. Only last Monday he left his Centerville home to join his daughter at Exline so that better care might be provided for him. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Jacob Farnsworth, who were residents of Exline and vicinity all their life. He was married Feb 23, 1908, to Miss Laura Exline, and immediately afterward they settled on a farm at Peckham Springs and lived there until March 1917. At that time they moved to a farm south of Exline. This was their home until recently. Mrs Farnsworth died February 7, 1939. Last fall Mr Farnsworth bought some property in Centerville and moved to the county seat town; here he made his home until Monday of this week. He was the last living member of his generation in the Farnsworth family. In death he leaves two daughters, Mrs Olan Hamm, and Felva Farnsworth, a grade school teacher at Exline. Also a son, Verl of Centerville, survives. Two grand sons, Kenneth and Eugene, both of Exline, also mourn his passing. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2:00 o'clock at the Christian church at Exline.
