Mary Belle Wesson, a long time resident of Clovis, passed away the morning of August 13 in her daughter's home in Las Cruces. Mary had relocated there in November of 2007, due to poor health, after residing in Clovis for over 60 years. She was born in Clovis on October 2, 1923, and was only about six weeks from her 85th birthday when she passed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nolan Phillip Wesson who died in November 1977. After the death of her husband, Mary continued in her home on West Plains and was involved in numerous activities with friends, family and in service organizations for several years until her health declined and these became difficult.
Mary is survived by her two children, Nolan Wesson of Richardson, TX, and Phyllis Hagan of Las Cruces. She was blessed with three grand-daughters and four great-grand children. Many of her friends had passed, as had her sisters, and she missed them dearly, but visited with her remaining friends and family until her death.
A memorial service honoring Mary will be held at the Muffley Funeral Home Chapel in Clovis on October the 20th at 7:00 PM. This will be a time to both reflect and remember Mary for her life and her love of Clovis and its residents.
