From the Skidmore Standard, March 22, 1904, page 1:
"An Old Settler Dead
Alex. Skidmore died at his daughter's residence in this city Friday morning, March 18th.

Mr. Skidmore had been very feeble for the past few years and had to be waited upon almost like a child. He was 90 years old, his birthday being that upon which he died. The funeral was conducted by Rev. C. B. Campbell, pastor of the M. E. Church, South, of which the deceased had been a faithful member for many years. The remains were laid to rest in the Masonic cemetery to await that great and glorious day. We extend sympathy to the sorrowing relatives and friends in this, their hour of trouble."

Missouri death certificates for Alexander's children show his wife's maiden name as Sarah McKnight.
