Oma Lee Whitaker, of 524 Rock Creek Road, Erwin, went home to be with the Lord on May 30, 2006, at her residence with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. She is a native of Wheel Right, KY, and is the daughter of the late George and Pearl Kiser Leedy. She was a member of the Chestoa Baptist Church. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph L. Whitaker; five brothers, Paul Leedy, James Leedy, Jack Leedy, Buddy Leedy and Dean Leedy; two sisters, Ruby Whitaker and Barbara Russell. She is the loving mother of two sons, Jimmy Whitaker and wife, Linda, Sammy Whitaker and wife, Susie; Two daughters, Linda Cordle and husband, Richard, Pauline (Possie) Hart and husband, Greg; Four sisters, Billie Flowers and husband, Charles, Beatrice Taylor and husband, Howard, Joann Austin and husband, Cotton, and Jeri Leedy; Eleven Grandchildren, several great grandchildren; and a very special cousin-brother in Christ, Bobby Jo Kiser. Funeral Services will be held at Eight O?clock, Friday, June 2, 2006, in the chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Reverend E.L. Wheeler will be officiating. Queenie Wheeler will be in charge of the music. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the funeral service and at other times at the home of her daughter, 925 Rock Creek Road , Erwin. Graveside services will be held Eleven O?clock, Saturday, June 3, 2006, at Evergreen Cemetery. Pallbearers will her family members. All those planning on attending the graveside services are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:30 Saturday morning to go in procession to the cemetery.
