Mr. George Edward ' Buddy' Leedy, age 65, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, September 7, 2004 at Johnston Memorial Hospital. Buddy was a native of Kentucky and was raised in the Carbo community of Russell County. He was a graduate of William King High School and had lived in Abingdon for the past thirty-one years. He was of the Baptist faith and was retired from Food City of Abingdon, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Pearl Leedy, brothers, Paul, James, Dean and Jack, sisters, Ruby and Barbara. Survivors include his wife, Rose Leedy, two sons, Chris Leedy and David Leedy all of Abingdon, VA, five sisters, Oma Lee Whitaker, Erwin, TN, Billie Rose Flowers and husband, Charles, Johnson City, TN, Beatrice Taylor and husband, Howard, Lebanon, VA, Joan Austin and husband, Cotton, Phoenix, AR, Geraldine Leedy, Richmond, VA, sisters-in-law, Kathleen Childers, Abingdon, VA, Tiny Baumgarner, Lebanon, VA, Roxanne Leedy, Knoxville, TN, Trula Fields, Abingdon, VA, special friend, David Childers, Abingdon, VA, special companion, Sugar. A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, September 8, 2004 at 8:00 p.m. in the Main Street Chapel of Farris Funeral Service with Rev. Jerry Eggers and Dr. Carl Young Officiating. The committal service will be conducted Thursday, September 9, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. in Forest Hills Memory Gardens. Those attending are asked to assemble at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. for the procession to the cemetery. Pallbearers will be Phillip Tate, Billy Wise, Jackie Clark, Alan Musick, Larry Miller, Mike Arnold. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
