MRS. CHARLES (AMANDA) BAYSTON
MARCH 13, 1896
This entire community was saddened on Monday to learn of the death of Mrs. Charles Bayston, which occurred at the home of her husband, south of town, on Sunday (March 8) night at 11:30, from pneumonia, leaving her bereaved husband and four small children to mourn the loss of a willing and devoted wife, a noble, affectionate and indulgent mother.
Amanda Watson was born in Vienna township, Grundy county, Ill., on May 16, 1860, and came to Chatsworth with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Watson, when two years old. At the age of thirteen she united with the M.E. Church. On October 11, 1883, she was united in marriage with Charles Bayston, five children being the result of the union, one of whom preceded the mother to the other world. In 1890 she transferred her membership in the M.E. church to the Baptist church, since which time she had been one of the most devoted members. She leaves, besides her husband and children, her father, brothers, sisters and a large circle of friends to mourn for one whose friendship and love can never be replaced.
The funeral services were held on Tuesday afternoon at two o'clock at the Baptist church, in this city, Rev. H.F. Tibbitts officiating, many relatives and friends gathering to pay their last tribute of respect to one esteemed by all. The burial took place in the Chatsworth cemetery.
