Robert Aken, age 64 of Radisson, WI, died suddenly Oct. 19 at Luther Hospital in Eau Claire, WI.
Robert was born to Lottie and Orvie Aken on April 20, 1934, at Grandma Potter's in Radisson. Bob attended grade school in Couderay, WI, graduated from Winter High School in 1953, and was a member of the Hayward National Guard.
Bob married Joanne Baugh on June 3, 1958, in Moorhead, MN. He designed and built Aken's Golf Course in Couderay in 1985 and was self-employed in fiberglass manufacturing, a heavy equipment operator, and also involved in landscaping. He loved to create new inventions.
As an avid baseball fan, Bob was involved in many area baseball programs, both as a player and as a manager. Bob loved golfing, trout-fishing, hunting, "playing" with his skid steer, and the Packers.
He is survived by his wife Joanne, two sons Rocky (Becky), Stanley, WI, and Dennis (Judy) of Thorp, WI; one daughter, Vickie, Madison, WI; four grandchildren; one brother Bernard (Ruth), Munising, MI; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Judy Kay, his parents, two brothers, Jerry and Carroll, and one sister Rose.
Visitation was Thursday, Oct. 22 from 4-9 P.M. at the Anderson-Nathan Funeral Home in Hayward. Funeral services were held on Friday, Oct. 23 at 2 P.M. at the Couderay Presbyterian Church, with burial in the Evergreen Cemetery in Couderay. A lunch was served at Aken's Golf Course, Hwy 27/70 in Radisson.
