Son of James Empron & Laura Delphina Shreeve Laff. Attended Beloit Schools. Served in Co. F, 4th Battalion, Simpson, Kansas State Home Guard during WWI. He was to have left for the military service the day the armistice was signed.
He was a farmer, warehouseman, and worked for Woodbury Hardware in Portland, OR. Member of the Masonic Lodge and Eastern Star.
On 19 May 1920 in Beloit, Kansas, he married Grace May McKee. They have 2 daughters. In 1942, they moved to the Portland, Oregon area.
