She was a daughter of Col. Abraham Penn and Ruth Stovall of "Poplar Grove."
She married Col. Samuel Staples.
Lucinda was originally buried at her home "The Old Stone House" at Stuart, formerly known as Taylorsville, Va.
The house once stood about where the Bank of Stuart was built.
Her remains were removed to the Stuart town cemetery.

Her husband Samuel, was born 1762 in Buckingham County, VA. He died 23 Mar 1825 in Patrick County, VA.
Samuel raised a volunteer company from Buckingham County, Virginia in 1781 which was assigned to the division under General Wayne. After the declaration of
peace, Samuel moved to Henry County, Virginia.
In 1791 the area became Patrick County. He was appointed
first clerk of the county court and the first clerk of the superior court of Patrick County, Virginia. Samuel died
after a three year illness.

Samuel and Lucinda had the following children:
1. Abram STAPLES, born 9 Mar 1793 in Patrick County, VA. He died 26 Apr 1856 in Patrick County, VA. and was buried in Stuart Cemetery, Stuart, Patrick Co., VA.
Abram raised a volunteer rifle company from Patrick County, Virginia during the War of 1812 and participated under the command of Gen. Robert B. Taylor. He was later a member of the Virginia General Assembly and Clerk
of the Court in Patrick County. Abram married (1) Mary unknown. Mary was born 23 Jul 1804. She died 28 Jul 1855.
2. John C. STAPLES
3. Ruth Penn STAPLES. Ruth married (1) James Madison REDD-son of Major John REDD and Mary WALLER. James was born at Belleview, Marrowbone Valley, Henry County, VA.
