PEARL GRAY
GOWER, Mo. - Pearl Walkup Gray, 91, died early Monday morning at a local convalescent center.
Mrs. Gray was born in Buchanan County, near Frazier, Mo. She was a lifelong resident of the Gower and Frazier communities.
She was preceeded in death by her first husband, W. T. Hiland, in 1931, her second husband, William Russell, in 1950, and her third husband, Roy Gray, in 1967.
She was a long time member of the Mount Moriah United Metodist Church, near Gower, a charter member of the Frazer Extension Club, a member of the Rebekah Lodge at Agency, o, and she was a gold star mother.
Surviving are one daughter, Alma G Holder, Agency; four grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Hixson &Klein Funeral Home, Gower. Burial will be in the Frazer Cemetery.
The family will recieve friends from 7 to 9 this evening at the funral home.

Pearl Gray was born on September 2, 1892 to James and Anna (Gartin) Walkup in Buchanan County near Frazier, Missouri.
Pearl attended school and grew up in the Frazer area and lived in the Frazer and Gower area all her life. In December on 1910 she was united in marriage to W. T. Hiland who preceeded her in death in 1931. Her second husband William Russell preceded her in death in 1950, and later she married Roy Gray who died in 1967.
Pearl was a long time member of the Mt. Moriah United Methodist Church, a charter member of the Frazer Extension Club, a member of the Rebekah Lidge at Agency, the Gower American Legion Auxiliary and was also a Gold Star Mother.
She is survived by one daughter, Alma G. Holder, 4 grandchildren, Chas. Hiland Holder, James L. Holder, John T. Holder and Wilma L Adkins, all of Gower, eleven great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
She was preceeded in death by her husbands and one son, James Thomas (J.T.) Hiland who was killed in action during WW-II ub 1944 in the European Theatre.

Pearl was the daughter of James Samuel and Annie Jane (Gartin) Walkup. She was a twin to Earl Walkup. She married William Thomas Hiland, son of John and Jane (Moutray) Hiland. They were married December 19, 1910 in Buchanan County, Missouri. Pearl lost her husband the day the banks closed in Gower, Missouri because of the Depression on February 24, 1931. William and Pearl were the parents of two children: Alma Glorina Hiland who married Lawrence Eugene Holder, and James Thomas (J. T.) Hiland who married Geraldine Barton. James Thomas was killed in France, serving in WWII on October 18, 1944. The Hiland's were very well to do up until the depression, with the loss of her husband, she tried, but failed to save their homestead. At that time her, and her two children moved to Gower, Missouri. She married a second time to William Russell who died in 1950 and married a third time to Roy Gray, who died in 1967. Roy Gray was married first to Edith (Walkup) Gray. Edith Walkup Gray was a first cousin to Pearl Walkup Hiland Russell Gray.
