Physician and author. Uncle and namesake of Hobey Baker. Son of the late Bishop William Hobart and Mary Amory (Howe) Hare. Married, May 8, 1884, to Rebecca Clifford Pemberton. Dr. Hare graduated from the Medical School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1885 and became a Doctor of Medicine from Jefferson Medical College in 1893. He studied physiology in Berne, Leipzig, and London and then returned to Philadelphia to become lecturer at Penn in the Biology Department. In 1890 he was appointed clinical professor of diseases of children at Penn and the following year elected to the faculty of Jefferson Medical College. He was regarded as an excellent lecturer and teacher and also wrote a number of books such as "Practical Therapeutics" and "Practical Diagnosis". He died at age 68 of prostate cancer and pneumonia at his home 1801 Spruce Street.
